The Shockwave Foundation has joined a group of philanthropic leaders who launched a collective call to action on climate adaptation and resilience. We need significant momentum to scale adaptation action as we accelerate climate change mitigation work in parallel.
This work is imperative.
“Even if the rise in temperature eventually slows as a result of more ambitious collective climate change mitigation efforts, climate risks will accelerate with every fraction of a degree because of the compounding and cascading nature of climate-related impacts.”1
This call to action is an important step forward. It builds upon the work of several philanthropic organizations and builds a clear vision for philanthropy’s role in this space. We believe that collective voices, and more importantly, collective action, like this, are essential to make significant progress.
